Monika is the founder and owner of Blue Puffin.

Monika was born and raised in Gdańsk, Poland. She first came to Northern Norway in 2003 as a student of Scandinavian Studies, in which she has a masters degree.

Her work experience ranges from guiding tours through being a language school manager, a Norwegian teacher, musher, while working with huskies and dog sleds to being a full-time mom. As you can see, it never got boring... oh, yeah, and she has a professional bus driver's license, too, and worked as a bus driver for local bus companies. Monika also tried having "a real job" when living and working in Oslo, but learned that that's just not quite her thing and moved back North.

Whenever not working, Monika is found someplace all over the planet. Monika is a dedicated traveler, as so to say. Her extensive journeys have brought her to all continents (except Antarctica - no reindeer there, though) and many would be jealous about all the places she has been to.

Monika started Blue Puffin in 2018. She had been the manager for a local tour operator for three years before that and had been in charge of developing and running North Cape Sightseeing tours. After this company decided to not longer continue business, Monika took over the concept in mutual agreement and continued the same concept she had originally developed. ... Blue Puffin was born - same tour, just under a different "legal" name.

Monika is fluent in Polish, English and Norwegian and speaks "some" German as well as "un poquito" Spanish.

 

Sebastian is Monika's partner.

Sebastian grew up in Leipzig, Germany. After finishing school, he bought a plane ticket and went off to discover the world. His journey, by bicycle, brought him to the End of the World, where he found his base camp in Southern Patagonia, Chile.

He has been working as a tour operator, specializing in adventure and nature travel in Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, Chile and Argentina for 17 years. Sebastian also owned a hostel in Punta Arenas, Chile.

Besides using his local knowledge in the production of several TV documentaries and commercials, Sebastian also enjoyed the opportunity to work with environment protection projects. Working close to nature for most of his life has resulted in his awareness of environmental issues and led to his most important projects together with National Geographic Photographer, Maria Stenzel, and the re-known conservationists Douglas Tompkins and Kristine McDivitt Tompkins. The latter led to the establishment of the first trekking trail in the (now not anymore) future Patagonia National Park, of which he was in charge. With pride, Sebastian sees this accomplishment as the personal highlight of his career and a small, yet very real step in long-term environment protection.

For Blue Puffin, he guides many North Cape Sightseeing tours, ties the strings in the back office and is in charge of international marketing, which pretty much means, he surfs the web a lot...

Sebastian is fluent in German, English and Spanish, gets along in French, and is learning Norwegian, which is tough in an country where even the mail man is fluent in English.

 

Kathi is our "tunnel digger" and also one of the most experienced guides at the North Cape.

She knows her mountains from her childhood home in Tirol, but she soon learned that Norway offers more than that: fjords! - hard to find in Austria!... ;-)

Kathi first came to Norway in 1999 and quickly found a new home in the beautiful, rugged North. She has been living and guiding tours here on and off since 2004.

Kathi studied geography/ cartography and actually does work for a tunnel construction company full time. Every year, she comes back to Magerøya Island to guide a few of our North Cape Sightseeing tours.

In her free time, she likes to get lost in a thick jungle in Surinam or some remote mountains in Kazakhstan - places well off the beaten track.

Kathi is fluent in German, English and Norwegian and as a far-traveled adventurer juggles with a few more languages on top of it.

Anita is the youngest member of our international guide team. She is a full-blooded Magerøyan, a true North Cape girl, as so to say. She grew up in this harsh yet friendly corner of the world and probably knows all and each reindeer by name! :-)

Anita is currently studying marine biology at the University of Trondheim, but comes home during the summer to either help at her parents' family-run business "Nordkapp Camping" (www.nordkappcamping.no) or to show off her land to our guests as a guide of our North Cape Sightseeing tours.

Anita is also a passionate singer and actress. Whenever she finds time, she enjoys performing at our friends' at Perleporten Kulturhus for the "Our Northermost Life" theater show. Highly recommended! www.perleportenkulturhus.no, performance in English.
